Ingredients

  • Batter (Massa)
  • 3 eggs

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup cocoa powder (or chocolate milk powder)

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 cup hot water

  • Topping (Cobertura)
  • 4 tbsp milk

  • ½ cup cocoa powder (or chocolate milk powder)

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Directions

  • Blend the Base: In a blender, combine the eggs, sugar, oil, chocolate powder, and flour.
Note: If your blender isn’t very powerful, add the flour gradually while blending. If the batter becomes too thick, transfer it to a bowl and whisk in the remaining flour by hand.
  • Finish the Batter: Pour the blended mixture into a bowl. Add the hot water, salt, and baking powder, whisking thoroughly until smooth.
  • Bake: Pour the batter into a greased baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 40 minutes. Unmold the cake while it is still warm.
  • Make the Glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all the topping ingredients (milk, cocoa powder, butter, and sugar). Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously.
Finish: Pour the hot glaze directly over the warm cake immediately after taking it off the heat.
